Joints Muscle Bones And Nerve Problems

Cervical Dystonia

Cervical Dystonia is a rare condition in which neck muscles contract involuntarily. It causes repetitive twisting movements of your head and neck — irregular, erupted, or constant. Cervical Dystonia can be painful and sometimes disabling. There’s no cure as yet, but the treatment of the symptoms can be a relief.

Symptoms

  • Pain on the same side of the head as the tilt
  • Twisting of the head and chin toward the shoulder.
  • Bending forward, chin downward
  • Leaning backward, chin upward
  • Leaning sideways, ear to shoulder

Some may experience a combination of such symptoms; in others, they may vary.

Writer’s Cramp

A specific type of focal-dystonia affects fingers, hands, or forearms. In the hands, it is a neurologic movement disorder.

It happens almost only when you perform a particular activity.

Symptoms

  • Gripping the pen very hard
  • Wrists flexing
  • Fingers extending, making it difficult to hold the pen
  • Wrists or elbows moving into unusual positions
  • Hands or fingers not responding to the commands

Slipped Disc

The specific discs cushion the vertebra in the spine, protect the bones by absorbing the shocks from regular activities like walking, twisting, and lifting.

Symptoms

  • Pain and numbness, one side of the body
  • Pain extended to arms or legs
  • Pain that worsens with certain movements
  • Pain while walking short distances
  • Muscle weakness
  • Aching or burning sensations

Sacroiliitis

Inflammation of the sacroiliac joint — These joints found at the lower part of the spine connecting to the pelvic region, near the hips — is called Sacroiliitis.

The pain may affect the:

  • Buttocks
  • Lower Back
  • One or both the legs
  • One or both the hips
  • Sometimes feet

Cervical Spondylosis

The common, age-related condition affects the joints and discs in the cervical spine.

Symptoms

Most people don’t experience any symptoms. When occurring — gradually or suddenly — symptoms range from mild to severe.

Pain around the shoulder blade.
Pain along the arm and in the fingers.

The pain increases when:

  • Standing or sitting
  • Sneezing or coughing
  • Leaning backward

Ankylosing Spondylitis

A form of arthritis that affects the spine; causes severe inflammation of the vertebrae and may eventually lead to chronic pain and disability.

Symptoms

The most common symptom is severe pain in the back in the morning and at night. One may also experience pain in the large joints, like the hips and shoulders.

Other symptoms are like:

  • Morning stiffness
  • Poor posture
  • Low appetite
  • Mild fever
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Anemia

Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

The most common type of arthritis in children under the age of 16; can cause persistent joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. Some experience symptoms for a few months, while others suffer for the rest of their lives.

Symptoms

The most common signs and symptoms of juvenile idiopathic arthritis are:

  • Pain: The child may limp — especially in the morning
  • Swelling: Often first noticed in larger joints like the knee.
  • Stiffness: The child appears clumsy, particularly in the morning.
  • Fever
  • Swollen lymph nodes and rashes.
